game Description

We Are Live is a JRPG Rogue-lite, in the Octopath Traveler style, Inspired by games like Slay the Spire and Darkest Dungeon. Players navigate through a randomly generated path of rooms, collecting items and creating their own spells as they travel thru multiple and randomized environments.

The story follows Elf, a mysterious android who has awoken in the bottom of a cave to be greeted by the mysterious Sei. With no memories, she must find out why she was created and what happened to the world around her.

Key Features

  • Travel through 4 randomly generated levels in order to find the origin of your creation.
  • Dynamically create spells with resources obtained from defeating enemies! Create the ultimate damage spell, poison damage over time effect, or an extremely defensive spell.
  • Obtain passive artifact effects guiding the strategies you employ. From multi-hit effects to the ability to over-heal your characters, the possibilities are endless!
  • Use the spells and artifacts to defeat bosses for each level, getting closer to the endgame goal.
  • Control many different characters each with unique capabilities, in traditional JRPG fashion.
  • Decide how your characters’ stats upgrade each run, defining how you approach combat. The game is never the same twice! Adjust your strategy each time to take advantage of the new spells you create.
  • PERMA-DEATH! Experience a unique playthrough each time, with very little effects carrying over between runs.

  • 30+ passive artifact effects
  • 40+ hand-crafted rooms, used to create a new random experience for each run
  • 15+ unique combat encounters.
  • An infinite number of unique spell combinations!
  • Interact with a cast of characters to find out exactly why you were created.

History

We Are Live started as a project in November 2020 to help me keep develop a skillset within Unity during the COVID-19 pandemic. After working with the Unity engine on previous projects (Game Jams, School projects, etc.), It was time to tackle my first independent commercial release. Steam was targeted as the platform for two reasons:
1 – It has always been my dream to have a game released on the Steam marketplace.
2 – I expected Steam to generate more traffic then previously experienced with Itch.io. As I write this my page on Steam has more wishlists than downloads and plays on all my games on Itch.io combined.

I want to share We Are Live with everyone and hope many people will enjoy the world I’ve created!
